House of Style

So you may have read our "Not-So-Extreme Home Makeover: Front Porch Edition" post that talked about the project we were working on in front of our house.  Well if so, you would have remembered the awful color of the paint, and Kell's reference to the next project: "repaint the exterior."

The painting is done!  We added a new front door too!  We thought we would share a before and after photo, as well as some close ups of the door. Enjoy!

Anniversary Trip: Counting Down...

One week from today we will be on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC!!!  We cannot wait!!!

We will be staying in Myrtle Beach from Saturday-Tuesday.  We are staying at the Hilton, right on the beach.  Besides lounging in the sun we plan on doing a few other cool things in Myrtle Beach.  We have done a little pre-vaca research to get the most out of our visit.  Here's a few of the things we want to try to do:
After Myrtle Beach we'll be heading to Charleston, where we'll stay until Saturday. Here are the things we'd like to do and see while visiting Charleston:

Hopefully we'll have a chance to do all the things we want to do...  Check back next week for updates on our trip :)

The Luck of the Irish

Hi!
Well, just in time for St. Paddy's Day, we have a new craft idea to share!  I have seen this idea on several different craft blogs and I finally had to try it for myself.  The greatest thing about this craft/ decoration is that it can be changed and reused for each holiday!

First, collect about 5 old picture frames.  We didn't have any to use around our house so we went out and found some cheap frames from Wal-Mart and TJ Maxx.  Then buy a can of spray paint. I chose white, but depending on your style or decor you could choose black or any other color! :)

Then prep the frames by removing the glass and all that stuff.  Layout some newspaper and start spraying!
While your frames are drying think of a word that goes with the season you are decorating for...we chose LUCKY for St. Patrick's Day! You will also need some "Holiday Inspired" scrapbooking papers.  Cut your paper to the picture size of the frame.  Cut out the letters of your holiday word.  I used my Cricut (Wild Card Cartridge) to cut out the letters but you could also just print the letters from your computer and cut them out! :)
Once your frames are 100% dry, it's time to put it all together.  I put the paper in the frames before I attached the letters in case I had to trim any of the papers (which I did).  You can also add some cutie embellishments to the frames.  Now set them up for everyone to enjoy!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
 Happy Everything!!!

Springtime Smoothie!

Once Upon a Time, Bobby was a Smoothie maker.  When he wasn't busy playing baseball he worked at a smoothie place here in town.  Lucky for me, he never forgot how to make those smoothies and now whenever we're in the mood to have one all we have to do is head into our very own kitchen! YUM!

Since we haven't had much to blog about lately I thought, "Why not share Bobby's smoothie skills with our blog readers!?!"  So here you go...

Ingredients
Equal amounts of Strawberries and Peaches (we put 1 cup of each in ours, but you can change it up if you like)
1/2 a Banana
1/8 cup of Sugar in the Raw (Turbinado)
aprox. 2 cups of store bought ice (ice from your freezer might be too hard to blend)

Put it all in the blender and GO!  (You might end up adding a little water or a splash of milk to get the blender moving.)

Just add a straw and enjoy your Springtime Smoothie!

Not-So-Extreme Makeover: Front Porch Edition

Hi!
First things, first... I finally figured out the answer to our Blog Frustrations and we think our blog is looking Super Cute!  We are willing the warm weather to come with our Springy-ness! Hope you like it!!!

Anyhoo,  Over the past two weekends we have had some pretty noisy and hectic stuff going on outside on the front porch.  Here's a little back story, when we moved into our house we knew that the outside wall of the front porch was not doing so well. Time and water had really started to wear it down.  We soon discovered that a neighbor from down the street had previously had the same problem.  So he tore down the wall!  He offered to help us do the same to ours, and we took him up on that offer!
Well enough talk... it's time for some action! Enjoy!

"Bobby! Kelly! You're house is such an awful pinkish color!" You say.
No worries... next project: repaint the exterior! YAY!
