It's almost Valentine's Day! I've seen a lot of Valentine's decorations and gifts using pink, black and gray. I really like that combination so I decided to use those colors on our mantel this year!
I love the yarn pom pom garland I made! It adds just a little more color and another texture to the mantel. Click here for the instructions to make your own yarn pom poms!

Yarn Pom Poms How-To
Hey! Happy February!
Over the last few days I've been working on our Valentine's Day Mantel. I got it pretty much finished but wasn't totally happy with it... So I took a few days to just look at it and think. So I decided I wanted to add a garland or something to that effect. I decided to make some yarn pom poms. I've been loving pink, black and gray for Valentine's Day so those are the colors I went with. Adding the Yarn Pom Poms to our mantel did the trick! Our mantel looks very cute! I wanted to share the steps for making pom poms in case you want to try it too!
You'll need yarn, cardboard and scissors.
1. Cut cardboard into a rectangular shape about 2-4 inches wide and about 3-4 inches long. (You could do it bigger or smaller depending on the size pom pom you want.) Cut about a 12 inch long piece of yarn and put to the side.
2. Begin wrapping yarn around the cardboard. I did about 3 layers of yarn to make them very thick.
3. Bend cardboard and carefully slide it out of the yarn loops, keeping it in shape. Center 12 inch piece of yarn across the middle of the yarn loops. Tie the yarn around as tightly as possible.
4. Cut all yarn loops in half to start to form pom pom.
5. Now you're pom pom is complete. All you'll have to do now is give your pom pom a hair cut! Trim the edges to make it even!

Long time, no see!
Hey friends!
It's been a while. 2011 has been pretty crazy at school and we've had busy weekends. So the blog has sort of been at the back of our minds! BUT, I've been wanting to share some of the projects and crafts I've created over the last month or so. Maybe soon I'll post the instructions to some of the crafts too!

I'm a little late about adding these first few but hey, take the idea and run with it...
Maybe heart shaped crayons for Valentine's Day?!?!
I used all of our broken pieces from the classroom and remelted them and poured them into candy molds!
Cutie-Crafty Ornaments made with a styrofoam ball, paper, confetti and straight pins!
The kids designed their own paper for the presents for their parents!
(that's a tongue-twister!)
This craft is something I've seen in magazines and at craft shows. It was one of those things that I saw and thought, "...How cool! I bet I could make that!" So I made this one for a Christmas present for my Mom.

Side 2
And of course our Lola Girl has to make an appearance whenever the camera comes out :)
Appliqued shirts! I just can't get enough of these! They are SO easy and fun!
Magnet Clothespins!
Another fun and easy project!
Ruffle Card
Bobby gave me a few craft magazines in my stocking. I found this card idea in one of those magazines! I made this one for my Grandma's birthday!
I loved that one SO much that I decided to make this one for a Baby Shower card :)
Well that's my little crafty catch up!
Thanks for reading!

New Years in The Big Easy
It's 2011!!! WOW!
Earlier this year we visited our friends Jase and Lindsey in Alabama for the Gator Game. That trip ended up being the beginning of a pretty bad football season but the beginning of a fun friendship! That weekend we all decided to make plans to go somewhere really fun for New Years together. After discussing a few different places, we ended up deciding on spending the New Year in New Orleans!
Instead of putting allllll my pics up individually, I put them all in a slideshow for easy viewing! But a few highlights to check out are:
- Cafe Du Monde and the awesome Beignets
- Our Beautiful Hotel, Hotel St. Marie, which was not even a block from Bourbon St.!
- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's house!
- The House of the Rising Sun
- The Winter Wonderland Walkway at the Roosevelt Hotel where we ate dinner on New Year's Eve!
- The Saint Louis Cathedral at night
- The many Street Performers
